Croatia is renowned for its gastronomy, as well as culinary diversity according to regions. The cuisine of the coast and islands is Mediterranean, and its main characteristics are fish specialities, vegetables, olive oil and fine wines. In general, sea food prevails over meat on the menus, but barbecued lamb (especially the one from the island Pag) and Dalmatian smoked ham are traditional gastro specialities and something you’ll regret not trying.
